I am writing a few programs in my spare time any programs I put on this page will be free unless otherwise stated.
This program works with "Microsoft Word" and will convert days, months, and dates to Mäori. It is a simple macro that puts four buttons on the toolbar.
If you click the appropriate button it will return the current day, month or date. It can also convert highlighted words or numbers to the Mäori date equivalent.
See below for full instructions. If you download and run the exe file it will place the template that contains the macro in the Word startup folder. I have tested this program with Word 97 and Word 2000.
The Mäori date buttons have two functions they can insert the current day, month or date or convert any day, month or date into Mäori. To insert the current day, month or date you simply click a button. To insert specific dates highlight a valid day or month name or a valid date. The complete words or dates must be highlighted before clicking a button or the current date will be returned.
This button will add the current day at the position of the cursor if nothing is selected. If you highlight the name of a day eg. Monday it will return the corresponding day in mäori. You can also highlight the number of the day eg. 1 for Monday or 7 for Sunday. If you highlight an invalid word or number the current day will be returned. Eg. Monday will return Rähina if Mäori Day is clicked
This button will add the current month at the position of the cursor if nothing is selected. If you highlight the name of a month eg. March it will return the corresponding month in mäori. You can also highlight the number of the month eg. 2 for February or 12 for December. If you highlight an invalid word or number the current month will be returned. Eg. April will return Paenga-whäwhä if Mäori Month is clicked
Short Mäori Date and Long Mäori Date
These buttons will add the current date at the position of the cursor if nothing is selected. The format is 29 Haratua 2000 for Short Mäori Date and Rähina, 29 Haratua 2000 for Long Mäori Date.
You can enter the date in any valid date format then highlight it and click the button to return the date. If you highlight an invalid date the current date will be returned. Eg. 4/4/00 or 4/4 will return 4 Paenga-whäwhä 2000 if Short Mäori Date is clicked or Rätu, 4 Paenga-whäwhä 2000 if Long Mäori Date is clicked.
